A 54-year-old man was discovered dead under suspicious circumstances in a well in Jharkhand's Hazaribag district, sparking a police investigation and allegations of foul play from his family.
Body Found in Agricultural Well
The incident occurred within the limits of the Keredari police station. The deceased has been identified as Sitaram Saw, a resident of Bengwari village. The grim discovery was made on Saturday when locals from the nearby Heth Dohar village in Hawai panchayat spotted a body floating in a well situated in an agricultural field.
Sequence of Events and Family's Anguish
According to family members, Sitaram had gone missing on Friday night. After he failed to return home, a worried search was launched by his relatives on Saturday morning. The search ended tragically later in the evening when the villagers alerted both the family and the police about the grim find in the well.
Upon receiving the information, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Tinku Kumar Singh promptly reached the location. The officer oversaw the retrieval of the body from the well. The body was then sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Police Investigate Dual Angles
ASI Tinku Kumar Singh stated that the police have initiated a thorough investigation. He confirmed that the probe is examining the case from both murder and suicide angles to uncover the truth behind the tragic incident.
However, the family of the deceased has strongly contested the possibility of suicide. They have alleged that Sitaram was murdered and his body was subsequently dumped into the well. Their allegations have added a serious dimension to the case, putting pressure on the investigating authorities to leave no stone unturned.
The police are now awaiting the post-mortem report and continuing their inquiries with locals and the family to piece together the events leading to Sitaram Saw's untimely death.
