Man Found Dead in Mussoorie Gorge After Being Reported Missing

A tragic incident unfolded in Mussoorie as a 44-year-old man was found dead in a gorge along the Mussoorie-Dehradun road, approximately 2 kilometers from Kolhukhet. The deceased has been identified as Ashok, a resident of Behat in Saharanpur.

Search Operation Leads to Discovery

According to police reports, the man's family had filed a missing person complaint at Saharanpur on Wednesday. Authorities traced his location near Kolhukhet, prompting a search operation. On Wednesday night, his motorcycle was found parked along the roadside on the route to Mussoorie. However, due to challenging night conditions, the search had to be temporarily halted.

The operation resumed on Thursday, leading to the grim discovery of Ashok's body in a gorge about 300 meters below the road. With the assistance of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the body was successfully recovered from the difficult terrain.

Background and Investigation Details

Police revealed that the man's family informed them about his struggles with alcoholism and drug use. In the past, he had been admitted to a drug de-addiction center for treatment. This information adds context to the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
