Gurgaon: A man was discovered dead under mysterious circumstances inside a pickup vehicle in the Wazirabad area on Tuesday morning. Police officials confirmed that the body was completely decomposed, suggesting the man may have died several days ago.
Victim Identified
The deceased has been identified as Sanjay, a resident of Jind, who worked as a driver for a logistics company in Gopalpur. According to an officer, Sanjay parked his vehicle on the night of May 16, and the car remained there for the past three days.
Discovery of the Body
The body was found after local residents noticed a foul smell emanating from the parked pickup vehicle and observed a swarm of flies hovering around it. A passerby alerted the police, prompting a team from the Sector 93 police post to arrive at the scene. Upon discovering the body inside the vehicle, the team immediately cordoned off the area. The body was subsequently shifted to the mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Police officials stated that the exact cause of death will only be determined after the autopsy report is received. During the preliminary investigation, no major visible injury marks were found on the body. However, due to the advanced stage of decomposition, officials noted it was difficult to ascertain whether foul play was involved.
Investigation Underway
Authorities suspect that the man may have been under the influence of intoxicants at the time of his death, though all possible angles are being examined. A senior police officer mentioned that CCTV cameras installed in and around Wazirabad are being scanned to trace the movement of the vehicle and to identify anyone who may have accompanied the victim before his death.
The pickup vehicle has been taken into police custody for further examination. An inquest proceeding under relevant sections has been initiated, and further investigation is ongoing. Officials anticipate that the case will become clearer once forensic findings and the autopsy report are received.
