A 40-year-old man was discovered dead under suspicious circumstances inside his residence in the Chanderia area of Chittorgarh district on Saturday morning, prompting a police investigation. While family members have alleged foul play, law enforcement officials stated that the exact cause of death will be determined only after a comprehensive probe.
The deceased has been identified as Yashwant Gawaria, a resident of Gawaria Mohalla. According to police reports, the incident came to light when a neighbor entered the house after noticing the front door was open and a cow had wandered inside. Upon entering, she found Yashwant standing motionless, leaning against a refrigerator. When she attempted to speak to him and later touched him, he collapsed to the floor.
The woman raised an alarm, drawing nearby residents to the spot, who promptly informed the police. Chanderia police and Gangrar Deputy Superintendent of Police Shivprakash Tailor arrived at the house and inspected the scene. The body was later sent for postmortem examination to ascertain the cause of death.
Preliminary Findings and Investigation
Acting Chanderia SHO Champaram stated that preliminary inquiries revealed Yashwant was addicted to alcohol. He was reportedly seen at home around 7:30 pm on Friday, with the television still on. Police are now examining whether he left the house later to meet friends or whether others visited him during the night.
Chittorgarh Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Singh said investigators are examining all allegations and possibilities raised by the family. “Every aspect is being investigated. The exact circumstances surrounding the death will become clear only after the investigation is completed,” he said.
Authorities are also checking CCTV footage from the area and questioning neighbors to piece together Yashwant's last movements.
