Man Hacked to Death in Ganjam District, Police Launch Investigation

In a shocking incident, a 28-year-old man was allegedly hacked to death by unidentified miscreants at Rekapalli in Ganjam district on Thursday night. The deceased has been identified as R Raja Rao, a resident of Aruguni near Chhatrapur.

Body Discovered by Passers-by

Passers-by spotted the body on Friday morning and immediately alerted the police as well as his family members. According to sources, the assailants attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon before dumping his body near a chicken outlet.

Brother Reveals Previous Enmity

Rao's brother provided crucial details, stating that the victim went out around 10:30 pm after receiving a call from some friends. "He had previous enmity with them. In the morning, we received information about his death and rushed to the spot," he said, highlighting a possible motive behind the brutal attack.

Police Suspect Fallout of Old Feud

Sabyasachi Malla, inspector in-charge of Chhatrapur police station, commented on the investigation. "Circumstantial evidence suggests he was killed by a group of miscreants. Though the exact motive is yet to be ascertained, we suspect it might be the fallout of previous enmity," he explained.

Intensive Police Operation Underway

Following the registration of a murder case, police have launched a comprehensive investigation. The efforts include:

  • Formation of three specialized teams
  • Two teams searching different areas to apprehend the accused
  • One team conducting searches in nearby locations
  • Deployment of a forensic team and dog squad for evidence collection

Police officials confirmed they have identified the attackers and expressed confidence that arrests will be made soon. Additionally, Rao's mobile phone has been seized as part of the ongoing probe to gather further evidence and establish the sequence of events leading to this tragic incident.
