Man Held for Illegal LPG Refilling in South 24 Parganas

A man named Dilip Mondal was arrested on Sunday for allegedly operating an illegal gas refilling and storage racket in the Uttarbhag area of South 24 Parganas, Kolkata. The police have seized 177 LPG cylinders from his possession.

Raid and Seizure

Acting on a tip-off, officers from the district enforcement branch, along with the Baruipur police, conducted a raid in the Kamra area along the Champahati-Uttarbhag Road. During the raid, the police discovered a large stockpile of domestic and commercial LPG cylinders at the location. Investigators suspect that several of these cylinders may have been stolen, as the accused could not produce valid documents for the stock.

Equipment Recovered

In addition to the cylinders, the police also recovered equipment allegedly used for illegally refilling gas into autorickshaws and for storing LPG. The authorities believe that Mondal was running a dangerous operation that posed a significant risk to public safety.
