In a distressing incident from Fatehabad district in Haryana, a man has been arrested for allegedly committing indecent acts against his nine-year-old daughter. The case came to light after the minor, a student at a government school, bravely confided in her teachers about the abuse she had been enduring.
How the Crime Was Exposed
The young girl narrated her ordeal to her school teachers, who acted promptly by informing the relevant authorities. The matter was then escalated to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), which provided counselling to the victim. During the counselling sessions, the girl confirmed the abuse, leading to a formal complaint being filed with the police.
Investigation and Arrest
Following the complaint, the police launched an investigation, which resulted in the arrest of the accused, a labourer by profession. The victim's mother had left her husband approximately eight years ago, leaving behind two children—a son and the minor daughter—who were living with the father.
A Fatehabad police spokesperson stated that based on the complaint from the Child Welfare Committee and information sent by the District Education Officer, a case was registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused is currently in police custody and further investigations are underway to ascertain the duration and frequency of the abuse.
Community and Legal Response
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting the importance of child safety and the role of educational institutions in identifying and reporting abuse. The school teachers have been commended for their vigilance and swift action, which played a crucial role in bringing the perpetrator to justice.
Authorities have assured that the victim will receive continued counselling and support from the Child Welfare Committee. The case serves as a reminder of the need for awareness and proactive measures to protect children from such heinous crimes. The police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior against minors.
