Man Disguised in Burqa Spotted in Ladies' Train Compartment, Triggers Police Case
In a startling incident on Friday, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Mumbai registered a first information report (FIR) after a male commuter, dressed in a burqa, was caught traveling in the ladies' compartment of a Central Railway local train. The event, which unfolded during the afternoon, quickly gained attention as a video of the confrontation went viral on social media platforms, prompting authorities to launch a search for the accused, who remains at large.
Confrontation and Escape Unfold on CSMT-Bound Train
Female commuters aboard the second-class ladies' coach of a fast local train heading towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) grew suspicious of a co-traveller clad in a burqa. Upon closer inspection and questioning, they discovered that the individual was, in fact, a man. The women demanded an explanation for his presence in the ladies' compartment and his choice of attire, leading some to record the incident on their mobile phones.
As tensions escalated, the women threatened to hand him over to police officers at the upcoming Ghatkopar station. However, before the train could come to a halt, the man made a daring escape by jumping off the coach onto the railway tracks. He then sprinted towards another platform, where he boarded a Karjat-bound local train, evading immediate capture.
Police Investigation and Viral Fallout
After alighting at Ghatkopar station, the aggrieved women immediately reported the incident to on-duty police personnel. Authorities reviewed CCTV footage from the area but were unable to locate the man on camera. A subsequent check of the Karjat-bound train at Mulund station also proved futile, as the accused had already disembarked by that time.
Following the widespread circulation of the video on social media, the RPF took formal action by registering an FIR under the Indian Railway Act for unauthorized travel in a ladies' coach. The force is actively pursuing leads to identify and apprehend the individual involved, emphasizing the seriousness of such violations in ensuring passenger safety and compliance with railway regulations.
