A horrific incident of road rage turned fatal in Bihar's Vaishali district, claiming the life of a 25-year-old man and leaving another seriously injured late on Wednesday night. The violent altercation, which began after a minor collision between vehicles, escalated into a deadly knife attack.
How the Tragic Night Unfolded
The incident occurred near Digghi Marmala Chaur, falling under the jurisdiction of the Sadar police station area. According to police reports, the violence erupted after a car brushed against a black SUV. This minor contact triggered a heated argument between the occupants of the two vehicles.
The situation quickly spiraled out of control. The occupants of the SUV allegedly launched a brutal attack, armed with knives. They not only broke the windows of the car but also stabbed Chandrashekhar Kumar, who was behind the wheel, in the stomach. The attackers then fled the scene, taking the victims' car with them.
Victims and Their Harrowing Ordeal
The deceased has been identified as Chandrashekhar Kumar, a resident of Baddiha village in Patepur. He was the youngest of four brothers, had lost his father three years ago, was unmarried, and worked in construction to earn a living. He succumbed to his stab injuries at the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH).
The injured survivor is 22-year-old Baijnath Rai, who was in the front passenger seat. A third person, Manish Kumar, the owner of the car, was seated in the back and escaped physical harm. Manish informed the police that the trio was returning from a feast at a friend's house in Hajipur when the tragedy struck.
Recounting the traumatic event, Manish stated, "After Chandrashekhar was stabbed, he fell unconscious. I somehow picked him up and ran to save my life."
Police Investigation and Aftermath
Police teams reached the spot after receiving an alert on the 112 emergency number. They immediately rushed the two injured men to Hajipur Sadar Hospital. Given the severity of their wounds, both were later referred to PMCH, where Chandrashekhar Kumar died during treatment.
Sadar Station House Officer (SHO) Ranveer Kumar Jha confirmed that an FIR has been registered based on the statements of the injured. He added that law enforcement is actively scanning available CCTV footage from the area to trace the vehicles involved. Intensive efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the attackers responsible for this senseless act of violence.
This tragic event has once again highlighted the dangers of road rage and the extreme consequences that can arise from momentary confrontations on Indian roads.
