Lucknow Man Fatally Injured by Nylon Kite String, Police Launch Criminal Probe
In a tragic incident in Lucknow, a 34-year-old motorcyclist succumbed to fatal injuries after a sharp nylon kite string slashed his throat on the Haiderganj overbridge. The Khala Bazaar police have formally registered a First Information Report (FIR) based on a complaint filed by the victim's wife, Fauzia, initiating a criminal investigation into the matter.
Details of the Fatal Accident
The deceased, identified as Mohammad Shoaib, a resident of Dubagga, was commuting to work around 3 PM on February 4 when the accident occurred. According to the FIR, an unidentified individual was flying a kite in the vicinity of the Haiderganj bridge area. The nylon string from the kite suddenly became entangled around Shoaib's neck while he was riding his motorcycle, registered as UP32 MD 9460.
The sharp string cut deeply into his neck, causing him to lose balance and fall from the bike. He was immediately rushed to the King George's Medical University (KGMU) trauma centre. However, doctors declared him brought dead due to excessive blood loss, as vital neck vessels had been severed.
Police Response and Legal Action
In her complaint, Shoaib's wife, Fauzia, stated that the family was in a state of shock following the sudden and unexpected death, which led to a delay in approaching the police authorities. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for the west zone, Vishwajeet Srivastava, confirmed that the police have registered an FIR under charges of BNS 105, which pertains to culpable homicide not amounting to murder, against an unidentified person.
Sub-inspector Shivanand has been assigned as the investigating officer for the case. An inquest has been conducted, and the body was sent for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death and gather further forensic evidence.

Investigation has been taken up, and efforts are on to identify the person responsible for flying the banned nylon kite string."
