SAD to protest on April 30 against Punjab power cuts

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) will stage state-wide protests on April 30 against the extended power cuts being imposed on Punjabis by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in both rural and urban areas, senior party leader Daljit Singh Cheema said here on Tuesday.

Party activists will hold daylong protests across the state on April 30 to jolt the AAP government into action, Cheema said, adding that the decision was taken by SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal in view of the rapidly worsening power situation, forcing people across Punjab to endure sleepless nights amid continuous outages.

Cheema said senior SAD leaders and workers from every assembly constituency of the state would stage protests at the local deputy commissioner, sub-divisional magistrate, and Powercom offices, demanding uninterrupted power supply.

Allegations Against AAP Government

The crippling power cuts are not accidental, but the direct result of poor power planning, failure to secure timely power tie-ups, and sheer administrative incompetence, Cheema added. Instead of addressing the crisis, the government remains preoccupied with managing internal instability and threats to its own survival amid large-scale defections of its MPs and leaders, he said.
