Nagpur: A tragic hit-and-run accident claimed the life of a 48-year-old man on the Nagpur-Bhandara highway late Sunday night. The victim has been identified as Virendra Kushwaha, a resident of Gulmohar Nagar in Kalamna. According to police reports, the incident occurred near Kapsi when an unidentified vehicle struck Kushwaha and fled the scene.
Discovery by Patrolling Police
The incident came to light around 2 am on Monday when Pardi police were conducting routine patrols on the Nagpur-Bhandara highway. Two citizens approached the patrolling officers and informed them that a man was lying seriously injured along the highway. The police immediately rushed to the spot and found Kushwaha unconscious and severely injured. He was promptly shifted to Mayo Hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Legal Action Initiated
Following a complaint lodged by the family, Pardi police have registered a case against the unidentified driver. The police are investigating the incident and reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the vehicle involved. Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward.
