Tragic Early Morning Crash Claims Young Life
A devastating road accident near Ambience Mall in Delhi's Vasant Kunj area resulted in one fatality and two injuries in the early hours of Sunday. The incident occurred around 2:33 am when a high-speed Mercedes G63 SUV lost control and crashed into three men waiting at an auto stand.
Victims and Immediate Aftermath
All three victims worked at a restaurant located within Ambience Mall. The deceased, identified as 23-year-old Rohit from Chamoli in Uttarakhand, was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. The two injured individuals, aged 35 and 23 years respectively, are currently receiving medical treatment for their injuries.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Amit Goel described the scene, stating that when the police team reached the accident spot, they discovered the Mercedes G63 in a severely damaged condition opposite the shopping mall.
Driver Arrested and Investigation Details
Police have taken into custody the driver, identified as 29-year-old Shivam, a resident of Karol Bagh. According to initial reports, Shivam was returning from a wedding ceremony with his wife and elder brother when the tragic incident occurred. The luxury SUV involved in the crash is registered under the name of his friend, Abhishek.
Preliminary investigation by authorities suggests that the driver lost control of the vehicle after encountering a road diversion. The Mercedes subsequently swerved toward the auto stand where the three men were standing, resulting in the catastrophic collision.
Legal proceedings have been initiated as police continue their detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. The case remains under active examination to determine all contributing factors to this tragic loss of life.
