Vadodara: A man allegedly killed his cousin and buried the body near a check dam in Panchmahal district's Kalol taluka, with police later uncovering the crime and arresting both the accused and the victim's wife.
Arrests Made in Brutal Murder Case
Police arrested Dharmendrasinh Solanki for allegedly murdering his cousin, Rajesh Solanki, on June 4 and concealing the body on the outskirts of their village. Rajesh's wife, Shilpa Solanki, was also arrested for her alleged role in the crime.
Extramarital Affair Leads to Murder
According to investigators, Dharmendrasinh was involved in an extramarital relationship with Shilpa. Rajesh had reportedly learnt about the affair, leading to frequent quarrels between the couple.
Police said Shilpa had allegedly been urging Dharmendrasinh to eliminate her husband. Acting on the alleged plan, Dharmendrasinh attacked Rajesh with a brick and repeatedly smashed his head against a rock, killing him on the spot.
Body Dismembered and Buried
After the murder, Dharmendrasinh allegedly informed Shilpa, who advised him to dispose of the body, police said. The following day, the accused allegedly dismembered the body by severing the hands and legs before burying it in a pit near a check dam to conceal the crime.
The crime came to light after Rajesh's brother, Jagdish Solanki, lodged a missing person's complaint. During the investigation, police questioned Dharmendrasinh, who allegedly confessed to the murder and revealed where the body had been buried. The victim's remains were subsequently exhumed and recovered.
