Man Allegedly Kills Wife, Daughter-in-Law, and Granddaughter in Deogarh Hammer Attack

In a shocking incident in Deogarh district, a man is accused of bludgeoning his wife, daughter-in-law, and four-year-old granddaughter to death with a hammer on Wednesday night. The brutal triple murder occurred in Gariapali village under the Kundheigola police station limits, following a heated argument between the accused and his wife.

Details of the Tragic Incident

According to police reports, Ramesh Garia, 52, lived with his wife Gul, 44, daughter-in-law Lipi, 26, and granddaughter Ishani, four. His two sons, who work as drivers, were not present at the time, as they often stay outside due to their work commitments. Around 11 pm on Wednesday, Ramesh allegedly picked up a quarrel with his wife, which quickly escalated into a violent confrontation.

As the argument intensified, Gul ran to Lipi's room seeking refuge. Ramesh reportedly followed her and, in a fit of rage, attacked Gul first with a hammer. When Lipi protested, he turned on her, and then struck the child, repeatedly hitting all three victims on the head. All three died on the spot from the severe injuries.

Escape and Police Response

Ramesh's 19-year-old niece, Payal, who was sleeping in the same room, managed to flee by jumping through a window. She immediately informed her father, Hemant, who resides in an adjacent house. By the time Hemant arrived at the scene, Ramesh had already fled the area. Around the same time, one of Ramesh's sons, Dhiren Garia, 30, returned home from duty and, along with Hemant, alerted the Kundheigola police.

A police team swiftly reached the spot and guarded the bodies overnight. On Thursday morning, Kundheigola police, accompanied by a scientific team, conducted a thorough examination of the crime scene. Officers seized a blood-stained hammer, which is suspected to be the murder weapon used in the horrific attack.

Investigation and Manhunt Underway

Deogarh SP Anil Kumar Mishra and SDPO Ramesh Mahana visited the village to oversee the investigation. The SDPO stated that the exact motive and circumstances leading to the crime are currently under probe. Based on Dhiren's complaint, police have registered a murder case against Ramesh. Preliminary inquiries suggest that the accused frequently quarrelled with his wife, indicating possible domestic tensions.

Inspector in-charge Johan Kujur of Kundheigola police station confirmed that a manhunt has been launched to trace the accused, who remains at large. The bodies have been sent for a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death and gather further evidence.

This tragic event has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting issues of domestic violence and family disputes. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue their search for Ramesh Garia.
