Man Kills Mother, Brother Over Land Dispute in Banda

A man allegedly shot dead his mother and younger brother in the Baberu area of Banda on Sunday following a dispute over ancestral property, police said.

Incident Details

Superintendent of Police Palash Bansal stated that Baberu police received information around noon that Rajkishore Mishra had allegedly opened fire on his mother, Shanti Devi, 60, and younger brother Devidin, 35. The victims were rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.

According to officials, Jagdish Mishra of Hardauli Road sold a plot of land located behind Baberu tehsil. The buyers subsequently started filling the land with soil to take possession. Jagdish's elder son, Rajkishor, then quarreled with his parents and brother over the division of the land.

Altercation and Shooting

During the altercation, Rajkishor's wife, Prabha Devi, and Jagdish were injured. Rajkishor then returned with his licensed gun and shot Devidin and Shanti Devi, killing both on the spot. Eyewitnesses reported that he fled the scene while brandishing the gun.

Bansal said, "Based on the initial findings and a complaint, a case has been booked against the accused."

Police Investigation

The SP confirmed that forensic evidence has been collected from the crime scene. Four police teams have been formed to arrest the accused, who remains at large.
