Kishanganj Husband Murders Wife Over Suspected Affair, Flees After Brutal Attack

In a shocking incident of domestic violence, a man allegedly killed his wife by slitting her throat over suspicions of her having an extramarital affair. The tragic event occurred in Bhatgaon village under the Galgalia police station area in Bihar's Kishanganj district on Monday night.

Body Discovered 20 Metres From Family Home

The victim's body was discovered approximately 20 metres away from the couple's residence on Tuesday morning. The deceased has been identified as Zoya Khatun, a 35-year-old woman who was married to Mohammad Alam for 15 years. The couple had four children together—three sons and one daughter.

Long-Distance Marriage Tensions Escalate to Violence

According to family members, the relationship between Zoya and Alam began deteriorating significantly in 2024. The situation worsened in July 2025 when Alam moved to Delhi for work, creating physical distance between the spouses. Zoya's brother revealed that frequent arguments erupted between the couple during this separation period.

"Whenever Zoya's phone was busy or unavailable, Alam would immediately start verbally abusing her and accusing her of infidelity," the brother stated. "The constant suspicion and accusations created unbearable tension in their marriage."

Final Confrontation Turns Deadly

Alam had returned to Kishanganj just ten days before the fatal incident. On Monday night, he initiated another argument with Zoya that quickly turned violent. Witness accounts and police investigations reveal a horrifying sequence of events:

  1. Alam first struck Zoya's head with a heavy object, rendering her unconscious
  2. He then dragged her approximately 20 metres away from their house
  3. Using a sickle, he slit her throat, causing immediate death

All four children were sleeping in another room during the attack and remained unharmed.

Brother Receives Disturbing Confession Call

In the early hours of Tuesday, Alam made a chilling phone call to Zoya's brother. "He called me and confessed that he had killed Zoya," the brother recounted. "He told me to come and collect her body from the village."

The family immediately traveled to Bhatgaon village and discovered Zoya's body around 5 AM. They promptly notified the local police authorities about the gruesome murder.

Police Launch Manhunt for Fleeing Husband

Galgalia Station House Officer Rakesh Kumar confirmed that the accused husband fled the scene immediately after committing the crime. "We have initiated intensive search operations and are conducting raids at possible hideouts," Kumar stated. "Our investigation teams are working diligently, and we are confident the accused will be apprehended soon."

The police have registered a case and are examining all evidence from the crime scene. Authorities are also interviewing family members and neighbors to gather additional information about the couple's relationship dynamics and the events leading up to the murder.

This tragic incident highlights the devastating consequences of unchecked suspicion and domestic violence in marital relationships, particularly in situations where spouses are separated by work-related migration. The case has sent shockwaves through the local community, raising concerns about domestic safety and conflict resolution mechanisms in rural households.
