Malvani Man Surrenders After Allegedly Murdering Wife Over SRA Flat Argument
In a shocking incident in Mumbai's Malvani area, a 52-year-old man has been arrested for the alleged murder of his wife. The accused, identified as Siraj Naik, surrendered at the Malvani police station on Thursday, November 21, 2025, confessing to having killed his 45-year-old wife, Mumtaz Naik, while she slept.
The Fatal Argument Over an SRA Flat
According to police officials, the tragic event was precipitated by a heated argument between the couple regarding a flat under a Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) project. The family's residence was part of this SRA scheme. Siraj Naik had insisted that they pay a sum of ₹9.70 lakh to a builder to secure a flat under the project.
However, his wife, Mumtaz, was strongly opposed to this plan. This disagreement led to a major argument between them on Wednesday night. Following the quarrel, Mumtaz went to sleep, unaware of the tragedy that would unfold.
A Brutal Attack with a Stone
Senior police inspector Shailendra Nagarkar of the Malvani police station provided details of the crime. In the early hours of Thursday, after his wife had fallen asleep, Siraj Naik allegedly brought a heavy stone and bludgeoned her on the head. The attack proved fatal.
The couple resided in the Malvani area with their three children, whose lives have now been irrevocably altered by this domestic violence incident.
Surrender and Arrest
After committing the act, Naik did not flee. Instead, he went directly to the Malvani police station and surrendered. The police have since arrested him and booked him under the charge of murder. This case has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting the extreme consequences that can arise from domestic disputes.
