Ludhiana: A man allegedly posing as a police officer cheated two fruit vendors of cash and a mobile phone in the Jamalpur area. The police have registered a case against the accused, identified as Gurjit Singh, a resident of Jhambewal village.
Incident Details
The complainant, Sunil Yadav of Mundian Kalan, reported that he and his cousin, Chand Kishore Yadav, were selling fruits on 33-Foot Road around 1:30 pm on June 6 when a man arrived on a motorcycle and introduced himself as a police officer. The accused took Rs 2,000 and a mobile phone from Sunil and Rs 6,000 from his cousin.
The complainant further stated that the accused asked them to sit on his bike, claiming they were being taken to the police station. However, he allegedly dropped them off at an unknown location and fled.
Police Investigation
Sources revealed that the victims later traced the identity of the suspect and informed the police. A case has been registered, and investigations are underway.
