Man Set Ablaze by Neighbor in Lucknow Over Financial Dispute

According to a written complaint submitted by the victim's sister, the incident occurred on March 25 when Rakesh Yadav was returning home after work. While passing through the Moongfali Mandi area, he was intercepted by a youth identified as Balgar, a local resident. The accused allegedly demanded money from Rakesh, and when he refused, an argument broke out, escalating into an assault.
The situation took a horrific turn when Balgar reportedly took out a bottle of petrol, poured it on Rakesh, and set him on fire. Family members immediately alerted the police by dialing emergency services, and the injured man was rushed to Civil Hospital for urgent medical attention.

The incident came to light on Saturday after an FIR was registered by the Aliganj police. A case has been filed under charges of BNS 115 (2) for voluntarily causing hurt and 287 for negligent conduct with fire, based on the complaint. Police have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.
Confirming the development, Aliganj police station in-charge Dhruv Kumar stated that both parties were known to each other, and the incident appears to have stemmed from a dispute. "The victim is under treatment. We are verifying all facts and further legal action will be taken accordingly," he said.
Kumar added that Rakesh and Balgar were initially friends, but a financial dispute broke out between them. "Balgar will go to jail as per prima facie evidence, and a probe is being conducted," he emphasized, highlighting the seriousness of the allegations.
