A young man allegedly set himself on fire at a finance office in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district on Friday after a heated argument over a seized vehicle. The branch manager also sustained burn injuries while attempting to rescue him.

Incident Details

The incident occurred at a private finance company office in the Makronia area of Sagar. According to police, Nilesh Kumar Jain, a resident of Jaisinagar, had financed a car through the company. The vehicle was reportedly seized in Damoh due to two pending loan installments.

On Friday afternoon, Nilesh arrived at the office to request the release of the car. An argument broke out between him and company staff over the matter. During the altercation, Nilesh allegedly poured petrol on himself and set himself ablaze, causing panic inside the office.

Rescue and Injuries

Employees rushed to extinguish the flames. The branch manager suffered burn injuries while trying to save Nilesh. Nilesh sustained severe burns and was first taken to Bundelkhand Medical College. He was later shifted to a private hospital due to his critical condition.

Family Allegations

Family members alleged that the company had been pressuring him for nearly 10 days despite only two installments being due. They claimed representatives had repeatedly visited his house and said the pending amount had already been deposited on Thursday.

Police Investigation

A preliminary police investigation points to a dispute related to vehicle financing. Authorities are looking into the matter further.
