Man Sets Wedding Pandal on Fire After Rejection

A 23-year-old man, identified as Simon Ronny Ambro, allegedly set fire to a wedding pandal outside his ex-girlfriend's house in the Manakapur Police Station area after her family refused to allow her to marry him and finalized her marriage with another man. Police registered a case under arson and other sections, and held the accused in police custody for 24 hours.

Incident Details

According to police, Simon Ronny Ambro, a resident of Martin Nagar, Jaripatka, works in the private sector. He previously lived in the Manakapur area, where he became acquainted with Siya, 24 (name changed). Their friendship later turned into a relationship. However, Siya's family members refused to let her marry Simon, after which they fixed her marriage with a man from Gondia district. The wedding was scheduled at a marriage hall in Mankapur on Wednesday.

The Attack

According to the complaint filed by Siya's father, at 10 pm on Tuesday, Siya's haldi ceremony was underway in the mandap outside her home when Simon arrived. Police said he abused Siya and her relatives before allegedly throwing a petrol bomb at the mandap. The mandap caught fire, and Simon fled the scene. Siya's father immediately lodged a complaint with Manakapur Police.

Police Action

Police took Simon into custody and kept him in custody until Siya's wedding was completed to ensure no further disruption. A case has been registered under relevant sections of arson and other applicable laws. The investigation is ongoing.
