A 36-year-old man was injured after unidentified assailants opened fire on him in the Jamadoba area under Jorapokhar police station in Dhanbad district during the early hours of Friday. The injured individual, identified as Ricky Singh, a local resident, is currently undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital where his condition is reported to be critical.

Details of the Incident

According to police reports, the incident occurred around 4 am when Ricky Singh stepped out of his house to attend nature's call. At that moment, three unidentified attackers allegedly intercepted him and opened fire. One of the bullets struck Singh, leaving him seriously injured. The sound of gunfire caused panic in the vicinity, prompting local residents to rush to the scene and transport him to the hospital for medical care.

Victim's Wife Files Complaint

The victim's wife has lodged a written complaint with the police regarding the attack. She alleged that Singh had recently been involved in a dispute with some individuals over the cutting and selling of iron wires lying near their residence. She claimed that the attack may have been carried out due to an ongoing conflict related to the illegal iron trade in the area.

Police Investigation

Police have initiated an investigation into the matter. Sindri SDPO Prakash Chandra Mahto stated that authorities are examining all possible angles. Preliminary findings suggest a rivalry between two groups allegedly linked to illegal iron trading. The police officer further noted that a used cartridge shell was recovered from the crime scene during the investigation. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the accused involved in the firing. "The exact reason behind the attack will become clear only after a thorough investigation," the SDPO added.
