A 45-year-old man was killed by unidentified criminals in Saipur village under Siswan police station area in Siwan district late Friday night. The attackers slit his throat, leading to protests by family members and villagers on Saturday.
Incident Details
The victim, Sohan Ram, a resident of Madhwapur under Chainpur police outpost, had returned from Haryana on Friday to prepare for his son's wedding scheduled on June 19. According to his family, three attackers reached his house late at night and attacked him while he was sleeping on the verandah. His wife rushed out hearing his cries for help, but the attackers had already slit his throat and fled. Villagers took him to the hospital, but he died on the way.
Protests and Police Response
The murder triggered outrage among locals, who blocked the Manjhi-Guthani main road and raised slogans against the police administration on Saturday. Siwan Superintendent of Police Puran Kumar Jha visited the crime spot and reviewed the investigation. The dog squad and Forensic Science Laboratory team were called to gather evidence.
Station House Officer (SHO) of Siswan, Chitranjan Kumar, said, "An FIR has been registered against three unidentified persons in connection with the killing. Further investigation is underway." He added that the police are examining possible motives and leads.
This incident has heightened concerns about law and order in the area. The family demands swift justice and arrest of the culprits.
