Man with stab wounds near Shakarpur flyover in east Delhi

A 26-year-old man was discovered with multiple stab wounds near a flyover in east Delhi's Shakarpur area on Sunday, according to police officials.

Victim identified and hospitalized

The injured individual has been identified as Mohit Tiwari, a resident of Ganesh Nagar. He was initially taken to a private hospital before being transferred to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital for specialized care, authorities said.

Police response and investigation

Police reported receiving a PCR call at 1:45 am regarding an injured person. A team promptly arrived at the hospital and initiated an inquiry into the incident.

A 30-year-old local resident from Shakarpur, identified as Ankit Shankar, informed police that he spotted an injured man lying near the Mother Dairy flyover towards Laxmi Nagar Metro Station and rushed him to the hospital.

Police confirmed that the injured man was later identified as Tiwari. A medical examination revealed four incised wounds on different parts of his body, a senior police officer stated.

Medical condition and further action

Due to the severity of his injuries, doctors referred him to LNJP Hospital for advanced medical treatment, police added.

Investigators stated that the circumstances leading to the attack remain unclear. Teams have examined the location where the injured man was found and are scrutinizing all available leads, including CCTV footage from nearby areas, to reconstruct the sequence of events and identify the perpetrators.

Police noted that it is not yet determined whether the victim was assaulted at the discovery site or elsewhere and later abandoned there. Efforts are also underway to ascertain the motive behind the assault. The investigation is ongoing.
