A devastating head-on collision between two cars on the Malavalli-Kollegal road in Mandya district has resulted in more than ten people sustaining injuries, with six of them reported to be in critical condition. The tragic accident occurred near the Gaganachukki toll plaza on Saturday, sending shockwaves through the local community.
High-Speed Impact Leaves Vehicles Mangled
The collision was marked by its extreme severity, as both vehicles were traveling at high speeds at the time of the crash. The forceful impact completely mangled the cars, trapping several passengers inside the wreckage and creating a scene of chaos and distress.
Panic quickly spread at the accident site as the injured cried out in pain, their anguished calls drawing the immediate attention of passing motorists and nearby residents who rushed to offer assistance.
Immediate Rescue Operations and MLA's Intervention
According to sources, more than ten people were traveling in the two vehicles when the collision occurred. While six individuals sustained serious, life-threatening injuries, others suffered from minor wounds and trauma.
Rescue operations were launched without delay to extricate the trapped passengers from the twisted metal. In a notable display of public service, Malavalli MLA PM Narendra Swamy, who happened to be passing along the same stretch of road, stopped his vehicle and actively participated in the rescue efforts, helping to coordinate the emergency response.
Hospitalization and Ongoing Investigation
All the injured individuals were provided with first aid at the scene before being shifted to the Malavalli Taluk Hospital for further medical treatment. Doctors at the hospital have confirmed that the condition of the six critically injured persons remains grave, requiring continuous monitoring and care.
The accident caused brief disruptions to traffic flow along the Malavalli-Kollegal road as emergency services worked to clear the wreckage.
