Mandya Police Conduct Major Raid on Club, Detain 30 in Gambling Bust

In a decisive move against illegal gambling operations, the Mandya Rural police executed a meticulously planned late-night raid on a club situated on the outskirts of Mandya city. The operation, which commenced on Monday night and extended into the early hours of Tuesday, resulted in the detention of 30 individuals who were allegedly engaged in unlawful betting activities.

Swift Police Action Under Direct Supervision

The raid was conducted under the direct instructions of Mandya Superintendent of Police VJ Shobharani, who emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards illegal activities in clubs. Police officials reported that the accused were caught red-handed while participating in the prohibited gambling game known as Andar-Bahar, a popular but illicit card-based betting game.

During the operation, authorities seized cash amounting to Rs 10.7 lakh, which is believed to be the proceeds from the illegal gambling activities. In addition to the substantial cash haul, various materials and equipment used for gambling purposes were also confiscated from the premises. The police team's swift and coordinated action ensured that none of the suspects managed to escape, leading to a complete containment of the situation.

Complaints Trigger Investigation and Raid

Speaking about the operation, Superintendent Shobharani revealed that the police had received multiple complaints regarding non-members from various locations, including Bengaluru and Mysuru, frequently visiting the Agri Club specifically for gambling purposes. "Based on this specific information, our team conducted the raid on Monday night, which continued until early Tuesday morning. During the raid, Rs 10.7 lakh in cash was seized and 30 persons were arrested," she stated firmly.

Shobharani further asserted that the police will not tolerate any illegal activities being conducted under the guise of club operations, sending a clear message to potential offenders. Following the successful raid, the club premises were officially seized by the authorities as part of the ongoing investigation.

Ongoing Investigation and Legal Proceedings

A formal case has been registered at the Mandya Rural police station, marking the beginning of a thorough legal process. The detained individuals are currently being questioned by police officials to ascertain the full extent of the gambling network and to identify the key organizers and facilitators behind the illegal activity.

Senior police officials have indicated that further investigation is underway to determine whether the club was systematically used as a front for unlawful gambling operations. This includes examining financial records, membership details, and potential connections to larger gambling syndicates.

The successful operation highlights the Mandya police's commitment to maintaining law and order in the region, particularly in cracking down on activities that undermine social and legal norms. As the investigation progresses, authorities are expected to pursue all leads to ensure comprehensive justice is served in this case.
