Mangaluru: Police have arrested a man on charges of allegedly sexually assaulting a woman and threatening her, following a complaint filed by the survivor regarding an incident that reportedly took place in 2023.
Details of the Incident
A woman alleged that when she was alone at her house at night, the accused, identified as Suresh, came there, sexually assaulted her, and threatened her with dire consequences. The survivor reported the incident after enduring the trauma for an extended period.
Legal Action Taken
Based on the complaint lodged on June 7, Dharmasthala police registered a case under sections 376 (punishment for rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police took the accused into custody and produced him before the court on June 9.
Court Remand
The court subsequently remanded the accused in judicial custody. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are collecting evidence to build a strong case against the accused.
