A comprehensive traffic safety and public awareness program was conducted on Sunday at the Pandeshwar and Hoige Bazaar railway crossings in Mangaluru. Official Inauguration and Key Messages
The program was formally inaugurated by DCP (Crime and Traffic) K Ravi Shankar, who released traffic barricades and installed new railway gate timetable display boards. During the event, the Awake Kudla team, supported by dedicated local volunteers, actively sensitized commuters about crucial aspects of road safety.
The awareness drive focused on:

He emphasized that public participation is essential for finding permanent solutions to the city's traffic challenges. The officer made a heartfelt appeal to citizens to cooperate with the traffic department during daily commuting difficulties.
Addressing Upcoming Traffic Challenges
With the recent inauguration of the Mahakalipadpu RUB (Road Under Bridge), authorities anticipate temporary increases in traffic congestion near the Pandeshwar and Hoige Bazaar railway crossings during the initial operational days. DCP Shankar assured the public that while temporary disruptions are expected, permanent solutions would be implemented systematically in due course.
Officials detailed that long-term measures are being planned, including:
- Road widening projects at Pandeshwar
- Coordinated efforts involving multiple departments
These initiatives will be undertaken in close coordination with the district administration, Mangaluru City Corporation, traffic police, railways, and other concerned departments to ensure comprehensive traffic management.
