Udupi: A resident of Rajeevnagar in Manipal police station limits has been taken into custody under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act on Friday for his alleged involvement in drug trafficking and related offenses. The suspect, identified as Jagdish Poojary, aged 33, hails from Rajivnagar.
The arrest warrant was issued by the Inspector General of Police, Western Range, Mangaluru, following a report submitted by the Superintendent of Police, Udupi district.
According to law enforcement authorities, Poojary has a documented history of engaging in narcotics-related crimes. A total of five cases have been filed against him at the Manipal police station and the CEN Crime police station in Udupi district. Among these, three cases involve the transportation and sale of narcotic substances, while the remaining two pertain to drug consumption. Of the three trafficking-related cases, one is currently under trial in a court, while investigations are ongoing in the other two. In the two drug consumption cases, the accused has already been convicted. Poojary will be incarcerated in Kalaburagi Central Prison.
