Imphal: In a significant anti-drug operation, Manipur Police intercepted two vehicles along National Highway 2 in Kangpokpi district, leading to the arrest of four individuals, including two serving police personnel. The arrests were made late on Wednesday for transporting a large consignment of contraband WY tablets, police confirmed late on Thursday.
Arrested Individuals Identified
The arrested persons have been identified as Zamir Khan (45), Zuma Khan (32) — a constable in the Manipur Police, Hafizuddin (42) — a head constable in the Manipur Police, and Samim (36). According to police, they were taken into custody along with the contraband items.
Seizure of Contraband and Vehicles
Police seized approximately 6.1 kilograms of WY tablets from their possession. Additionally, two vehicles used for transporting the drugs were confiscated.
Separate Operations Against Militants
In a separate operation on Thursday, security forces arrested an active woman cadre of the banned RPF/PLA outfit from her residence at Heibongpokpi Maning Leikai under Lamsang Police Station in Imphal West district. The arrested cadre was identified as Tombi Chanu alias Laijalembi (26).
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, security forces arrested an active cadre of KCP (Taibanganba), identified as Leimapokpam Lemba Singh alias Chalamba (21), from Nambol Sabal Leikai under Nambol Police Station in Bishnupur district.
