Mathura: Elder Brother Allegedly Murders Younger Sibling in Violent Domestic Dispute
A horrific incident of fratricide has shaken the Saunkh area of Mathura district, where a 35-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his elder brother following a prolonged domestic dispute. The tragic event occurred late Tuesday night in Ahamal village under the jurisdiction of the Magorra police station.
Details of the Violent Altercation
According to police reports, the accused, identified as Meghshyam Singh, allegedly attacked his younger brother, Niranjan Singh alias Nahna, with a sharp-edged gandasa (cleaver). The brutal assault resulted in immediate fatal injuries to Niranjan. Following the attack, Meghshyam fled the scene with his wife, Durgesh, leaving behind a scene of chaos and grief.
The dispute had been simmering within the family for approximately one-and-a-half years, with tensions rooted in complex familial relationships. Notably, the wives of the two brothers are sisters, adding a layer of intricacy to the ongoing conflict.
Trigger of the Fatal Confrontation
The situation escalated dramatically on Tuesday night when Niranjan returned home and was having dinner. His sister-in-law, Durgesh, allegedly shone a torch directly on his face and accused him of casting an inappropriate gaze at her. This accusation sparked a heated argument that quickly spiraled out of control.
The verbal altercation soon turned physically violent. Meghshyam, in a fit of rage, allegedly seized a gandasa and launched a ferocious attack on his younger brother. The victim sustained grievous and fatal injuries to his neck, ear, and hands during the assault. In a desperate attempt to stop the violence, their mother, Longa Devi, intervened but was also injured in the process.
Aftermath and Police Response
Local residents rushed to the house upon hearing the commotion, but by the time they arrived, the accused had already locked the room and escaped with his wife. The police were promptly informed and arrived at the scene to begin their investigation.
The body of Niranjan Singh has been sent for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and gather forensic evidence. A formal case has been registered against the accused couple under BNS section 103, which pertains to murder. The police are treating this as a top-priority investigation.
DSP Anil Kumar Singh provided an update on the case, stating, "Efforts are underway to trace and arrest both accused at the earliest. We are following all possible leads and utilizing available resources to ensure they are brought to justice." The police have launched a manhunt to locate Meghshyam and Durgesh, who remain at large following the tragic incident.
