Union Minister Meghwal Advocates for Human-Centric Legal Frameworks in India
Union Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal, speaking at a program in Kurukshetra on Sunday, declared that legal and ethical frameworks must be fundamentally rooted in human welfare. He stressed that India's ambitious vision of a "Developed India" extends far beyond mere economic growth, encompassing a comprehensive human-centric digital transformation.
Youth Participation and Democratic Processes
Addressing the gathering at Ambedkar Law College in Kheri Markanda village, organized by the Ambedkar Education Society, Meghwal highlighted the critical role of youth in shaping the nation's future. As the world's largest democracy, India stands to gain immensely from active youth engagement. "Their involvement will give new direction to democratic processes, technological advancement, and public engagement," he asserted, underscoring the importance of integrating young voices into governance and innovation.
Legislative Precision and Judicial Modernization
Emphasizing the significance of legislative precision, Meghwal noted that every word in legal drafting carries substantial weight and forms the backbone of effective governance. He outlined several initiatives by the Central government aimed at strengthening public safety and ensuring timely justice, in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision. Key efforts include:
- Implementation of online case management systems to streamline judicial processes.
- Expansion of e-courts and video-conferencing hearings to enhance accessibility and efficiency.
- Ongoing measures to fill judicial vacancies and increase the number of judges to address case backlogs.
Meghwal acknowledged persistent challenges such as case backlog, complex legal procedures, and resource constraints but assured that these are being tackled through coordinated efforts between the government and the judiciary.
Foundation Stone Laying and Educational Empowerment
Earlier in the event, Meghwal, along with former MP Ishwar Singh, laid the foundation stone for a women's hostel to be constructed at a cost of ₹6 crore. District and Sessions Judge Dinesh Kumar Mittal was also present, marking the occasion as a step toward improving educational infrastructure.
Meghwal later engaged with law students, discussing recent legal developments and reforms, and reviewed the college's facilities. Former MP Ishwar Singh highlighted that around 400 students are enrolled at the college, which offers comprehensive amenities. He emphasized the pivotal role of education in societal progress, noting that the Ambedkar Education Society is dedicated to empowering youth to contribute to the vision of a developed India.
