A luxury Mercedes car crashed into three people outside Ambience Mall in Delhi's Vasant Kunj area during the early hours of Sunday, resulting in one fatality and two injuries. All three victims were employees of a restaurant located within the popular shopping complex.
Tragic Early Morning Incident
The devastating incident occurred at approximately 2:33 AM on Sunday when a high-end Mercedes G63 vehicle lost control and struck the victims who were standing near an auto stand. According to Delhi Police, they received a PCR call about the road accident at Vasant Kunj North police station at the same time.
Upon reaching the location, police officials discovered the Mercedes G63 in accidental condition and three injured individuals lying at the spot. The victims, all restaurant workers from Ambience Mall, were immediately transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Victims and Medical Condition
During medical examination at the hospital, 23-year-old Rohit from Chamoli, Uttarakhand was declared brought dead. The two other victims, aged 23 and 35 years, are currently receiving medical treatment for their injuries. All three young men had been working at one of the restaurants inside the upscale mall.
Driver Details and Investigation Findings
Delhi Police has identified and detained the driver as 29-year-old Shivam, a resident of Karol Bagh, New Delhi. Preliminary investigation reveals that Shivam was driving the vehicle with his wife and elder brother when the accident occurred. The group was reportedly returning home after attending a wedding ceremony.
Police investigation indicates that the vehicle lost balance due to a diversion on the road, causing the luxury car to hit a pole where the three restaurant employees were standing. The Mercedes involved in the accident belongs to Abhishek, a friend of the driver Shivam.
Delhi Police confirmed that necessary legal action is being taken as per the law in this tragic case that has claimed one young life and left two others fighting for recovery.
