Migrant Worker Brutally Murdered in Muzaffarpur, Police Investigate Illicit Relationship Angle
A shocking case of murder has emerged from Bihar's Muzaffarpur district, where a 36-year-old migrant worker was found brutally murdered in the Aurai police station area on Saturday. The local police suspect that the crime may be linked to an illicit relationship, adding a complex dimension to the investigation.
Victim Identified as Delhi-Based Worker Recently Returned Home
The deceased has been identified as Rakesh Das, a resident of Sakim Patori village in the region. Das had returned to his native village just four days before the tragic incident, following an extended period of working in Delhi. According to family statements recorded by police, Das and his brother were involved in selling wedding cards in the national capital before their return on January 27.
Family's Frantic Search Ends in Tragedy
The nightmare began when Das left his home around 11 PM on Thursday and failed to return. As hours turned into the next day, his family grew increasingly worried and launched an extensive search throughout Friday, but found no trace of him.
The search resumed on Saturday morning with renewed urgency. While looking near the dam across the Mahuara River, family members noticed a crowd gathered at a particular spot. To their horror, they discovered an injured man who was identified as Rakesh Das, bearing visible injury marks on his body.
Medical Intervention and Police Investigation
With the assistance of local villagers, the injured Das was immediately taken to a nearby primary health centre. Unfortunately, doctors at the facility examined him and declared him dead, confirming the family's worst fears.
Aurai Station House Officer Raja Singh provided details about the ongoing investigation. "Family members informed police that Rakesh and his brother sold wedding cards in Delhi and had returned to the village together on Jan 27," the SHO stated. He confirmed that a post-mortem examination has been conducted and statements from family members have been officially recorded.
Police Action and Family Allegations
Law enforcement authorities have launched raids to trace the main accused, who has been absconding since the incident occurred. In their official statement to police, the family has pointed fingers at some individuals from a neighboring village, alleging their involvement in the brutal crime.
SHO Raja Singh elaborated on the current investigative focus: "Prima facie, the case appears to be linked to an illicit relationship. Police are investigating all aspects and the culprits will be identified and arrested soon." This statement indicates that authorities are treating the illicit relationship angle as a primary line of inquiry while maintaining a comprehensive investigation approach.
Broader Implications and Community Impact
The murder has sent shockwaves through the local community, particularly among migrant workers who frequently travel between their home villages and employment destinations in major cities. The case highlights the vulnerabilities faced by returning migrants and raises questions about safety mechanisms in rural areas.
Police authorities have assured the public that they are pursuing all possible leads and angles in the investigation. The combination of forensic evidence from the post-mortem, witness statements, and field investigations is expected to provide clearer direction in the coming days as law enforcement works to bring the perpetrators to justice.
