A serious incident involving a traffic police constable and a trio riding a two-wheeler unfolded in Trichy on Sunday night, leading to a police case and the seizure of the vehicle.
Constable Injured During Vehicle Check
The episode occurred when Palakkarai traffic head constable Gopinath Singh and other personnel were conducting routine vehicle inspections. The location was near the prominent Gandhi Market arch in Trichy. On Sunday night, Constable Gopinath signaled a two-wheeler carrying three individuals to stop for a check.
Minor Rider Attempts Escape, Hits Officer
Instead of complying, the person riding the vehicle, identified as a 17-year-old minor boy, allegedly tried to flee the spot. In the process, the bike dashed against Constable Gopinath, injuring him. The trio, which included the boy's father, K Balasubramanian, and another unidentified man, then fled from the scene immediately after the collision.
The injured police constable was promptly rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Following the incident, a formal complaint was lodged by traffic police sub-inspector Tamilarasan.
Police Case Filed and Bike Seized
Based on the complaint, the Trichy police have registered a case against the three individuals: the minor boy, his father K Balasubramanian, and the unidentified pillion rider. As part of the action, the police have seized the bike involved in the incident.
