Minor Allegedly Steals Rs 4.80 Lakh Cash Bag During Indore Wedding Reception
In a startling incident in Indore, a minor is alleged to have walked away with a bag containing a substantial amount of cash during a wedding reception in the Banganga area. The theft, which involved valuables worth approximately Rs 4.80 lakh, only came to light two days later after CCTV footage was reviewed.
Complaint Lodged by Groom's Father
The Banganga police have registered a case based on a complaint filed by 67-year-old Harish Kumar Jha, a resident of Vijay Nagar. Jha reported that cash and other valuables were stolen during his son's wedding reception held on March 12. The function took place at Milan Sundaram Garden, where a grey and black bag containing a purse, ATM cards, and Rs 4.80 lakh in cash was kept on the stage.
Theft Went Unnoticed Initially
Additional DCP (crime branch) Rajesh Dandotiya stated that the theft went completely unnoticed at the time of the event. It was only later in the night when the bag could not be located on the stage that family members and guests present at the venue were questioned. This prompted a review of the CCTV cameras installed at the garden.
CCTV Footage Reveals Minor's Actions
The surveillance footage provided a clear picture of the incident. During the reception, while the bride and groom were on stage and guests were engaged in the programme, a minor climbed onto the stage. The individual then picked up the bag and quietly left the premises without drawing any attention.
Police Investigation Underway
Banganga police have officially registered a case and have initiated efforts to identify and trace the minor boy involved. The investigation is focused on reviewing additional footage and gathering statements from witnesses to piece together the events leading to the theft.
This incident highlights the importance of vigilance during large gatherings, even in celebratory settings like weddings, where valuable items may be left unattended.
