In a heartwarming turn of events, a family from Mumbra was reunited with their son after he had been missing for ten years. The reunion took place at Malad police station after the man was found begging on the streets and police delved into his background.
Discovery During Routine Drive
On May 26, the Malad police were conducting a routine drive to round up beggars for rehabilitation. During this operation, they encountered a young man who initially claimed he belonged to Basti village in Uttar Pradesh. However, when questioned further about his family, he gave evasive answers.
Police Investigation
The police brought him to the station and provided him with food. The next day, they questioned him again. This time, the young man revealed his name as Kamruddin and said he used to live near an Urdu school in Sakinaka. A police team visited the location but could not find his family. They showed his photographs to local residents, two of whom identified him. They informed the police that Kamruddin had lived in Sakinaka with his parents while attending school. Over a decade ago, after failing his exams, he ran away from home. Since then, his family had moved to Mumbra.
Emotional Reunion
The residents provided the police with a phone number for Kamruddin's aunt. Through her, the police contacted his parents. On Wednesday, the family had an emotional reunion with Kamruddin at Malad police station. Kamruddin, now 27, broke down upon seeing his parents.
Police Efforts
Under the supervision of DCP Sandeep Ghuge, senior inspector Dushyant Chavan, and inspector Sanjay Bedal, the Malad police have reunited four such individuals with their families within a single week.
