In a grim discovery, the skeletal remains of a man who had been missing for weeks were recovered from a deserted area in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer district on Monday. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community and prompted a police investigation.

Discovery of Severed Hand Leads to Skeleton

The sequence of events began when authorities received a disturbing report. Siwana police station officer Chandraveer Singh stated that information was received about a human hand found lying in an isolated spot in Telwada village, which falls under the Siwana police station area of Balotra.

Acting swiftly on this lead, a police team launched a search operation in the vicinity. Their efforts led them to a horrifying find approximately 150 metres away from the initial location. There, they discovered a human skeleton in a mutilated condition. The police meticulously collected all necessary evidence from the scene. The skeletal remains were then taken into custody and transferred to the mortuary at Siwana Hospital for further examination.

Identity of the Deceased and Disappearance

The deceased was soon identified as Butaram, a 30-year-old resident of Ailana in Jalore district. According to the police investigation into his background, Butaram was married and had a four-year-old daughter. The police also confirmed that he was mentally challenged.

His tragic story began on December 21, when he left his home to go to the market to purchase goods. He never returned. His worried family and relatives conducted their own searches but failed to locate him. Following this, his father, Khekaram, officially lodged a missing person complaint at the Vishangarh police station in Jalore.

Police Investigation and Next Steps

Station Officer Chandraveer Singh informed that the family members of Butaram have been notified about the tragic discovery. The police are now awaiting the arrival of the family and the submission of necessary reports to proceed with the formalities.

The body will be handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination is conducted. The police have registered a case and an active investigation is currently ongoing to determine the circumstances that led to Butaram's death and the discovery of his remains in such a state. Authorities are working to piece together the events between his disappearance on December 21 and the recovery of his skeleton.
