Missing Student's Body Recovered from Malampuzha Dam

The body of a 24-year-old student who went missing while bathing in Malampuzha dam was recovered on Wednesday morning. The deceased was identified as Shameel, a native of Tirur in Malappuram district. He was pursuing a Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) at a private college in Palakkad.

Incident Details

According to police, the incident occurred on Tuesday evening when Shameel, along with his friends, visited the southern side of the dam. After spending some time in the water, the group began swimming back to the shore when Shameel reportedly got caught in the current and drowned. His friends immediately alerted locals, who in turn informed the fire and rescue services.

Search and Recovery Operation

A team from Kanjikode fire and rescue station launched a search operation. The search was suspended late in the night due to poor visibility and adverse weather conditions. Search resumed on Wednesday morning, and subsequently the body was recovered.

Shameel's body was shifted to Palakkad district hospital mortuary for postmortem examination. Authorities have informed his family members about the tragic incident.
