The body of an 18-year-old man, who had been missing for two days, was discovered beneath a heap of sand near a riverbank under Rajpur police station limits in Chatra district late Sunday night. The deceased has been identified as Pramod Kumar, a resident of Gariya village.
Incident Details
According to family members, Pramod was having dinner on June 5 when he received a phone call from a friend who wanted to meet him near Gariya bridge. He left home immediately and did not return that night. His mobile phone was later found switched off, and his motorcycle was discovered parked near the bridge the following morning.
Discovery of the Body
Local police received a tip-off about a body buried beneath a heap of sand near the riverbank at Gambharia village in Kanhachatti block. On Sunday, a police team recovered the body, which was later identified by Pramod's family members. The kin alleged that he was murdered and buried to destroy evidence.
Investigation Underway
Police teams, along with a forensic expert, arrived at the scene and collected evidence. The investigation is being led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sunny Vardhan. Sandeep Kumar, officer-in-charge of Rajpur police station, stated on Monday that the body has been sent to Chatra Sadar Hospital for postmortem examination. "The deceased's call details are being examined, and several individuals have been detained on suspicion and are being questioned," Kumar said. He added that the postmortem report will reveal the cause of death.
