Lucknow: A 22-year-old woman from Lakhimpur Kheri, who had been missing for three days, was discovered dead in a hotel room near Charbagh on Thursday, police reported.
Incident Details
The woman, a second-year MA Sanskrit student, was found in Room No. 23 of a hotel under the Naka Hindola police station limits. Hotel staff alerted authorities after she did not leave the room for an extended period. A police team arrived, broke open the door, and found her deceased.
Missing Person Case
The woman had been reported missing from Lakhimpur Kheri on May 25. Her family had already filed an FIR at the Sadar Kotwali police station in Kheri. According to her brother, she left home without informing anyone on May 25. CCTV footage showed her leaving the house alone.
Family members stated she left without money or a mobile phone. However, police recovered a mobile phone, cash, and three to four pairs of new clothes near her body. Her relatives mentioned she had saved Rs 35,000 to buy a scooter, which remained at home.
Investigation
Police suspect the woman may have been in a relationship, and preliminary findings suggest a possible suicide linked to a failed love affair. SHO Kotwali, Kheri, Rajesh Singh, said multiple teams have been formed to locate her alleged boyfriend and examine his role.
Investigators are scanning CCTV footage from the hotel and surrounding areas, along with call detail records and digital evidence from the recovered mobile phone. Inspector Naka Hindola Abhinav Verma stated that statements from family members, hotel staff, and other individuals connected to the case are being recorded.
The victim's relatives arrived at the Lucknow postmortem house and demanded a thorough investigation.
