Mob Violence Erupts in Unnao During Police Operation Against Intoxicated Youth
In a disturbing incident in Unnao district, a police team from Achalganj police station faced violent opposition from a mob while attempting to apprehend an intoxicated youth in Hadha town on Wednesday. The confrontation resulted in injuries to a police officer and significant damage to a government vehicle.
Police Respond to Disturbance Complaint
According to police reports, authorities received specific information about Ankit, son of Ram Prasad, who was allegedly creating a public disturbance while under the influence of alcohol in Hadha town. The police team promptly arrived at the location with the intention of intervening and preventing further disruption.
"The police reached the spot and tried to stop him. Ankit started arguing and also attempted to obstruct the vehicle of the station house officer," detailed an official statement from the police department.
Escalation to Mob Violence
The situation rapidly deteriorated when Circle Officer Beeghapur Madhupnath Mishra and other officers attempted to calm the agitated youth. During this intervention, a crowd began to gather at the scene. What started as a routine police action quickly turned violent as certain individuals within the mob initiated stone-pelting against the law enforcement personnel.
"The situation worsened when some people started throwing stones," confirmed police authorities. The assault resulted in minor injuries to the police vehicle driver and caused the rear windscreen of the government vehicle to be completely shattered.
Police Response and Restoration of Order
Demonstrating considerable restraint, the police force managed to bring the volatile situation under control without further escalation. Additional police personnel were immediately deployed to the location to reinforce security and maintain public order.
Officials confirmed that "the situation was normal, and peace and order was being maintained in the area" following the incident. The police have assured the public that normalcy has been restored and that there is no ongoing threat to public safety in Hadha town.
