Mohali Police Generates Significant Revenue Through Transparent Vehicle Auction
The Mohali police have successfully conducted a special auction drive, generating substantial revenue of Rs 36.58 lakh by selling vehicles that were seized in connection with various cases. This initiative represents a significant step toward efficient resource management and revenue enhancement for law enforcement agencies in the region.
Special Auction Drive Across Eight Police Stations
According to Mohali SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans, the auction was meticulously organized as a special drive spanning three days from January 28 to 30. The operation was conducted across eight different police stations within the district, ensuring comprehensive coverage and maximum participation. A total of 351 seized vehicles were successfully auctioned during this period, clearing long-pending cases and reducing administrative backlog.
Compliance with DGP Directives and Government Norms
The auction drive was launched in strict compliance with the standing orders issued by the Director General of Police (DGP) of Punjab, Chandigarh. The primary objective was to ensure the timely disposal of vehicles related to accident cases and other legal matters that had been lying unattended on police station premises for extended periods. This initiative aligns with broader efforts to streamline police operations and enhance public service delivery.
Supervision and Transparency in Auction Process
The entire auction process was carried out under the direct supervision of Navneet Singh Mahal, SP (Traffic), and Saurav Jindal, SP (Investigation). The auctions were conducted under the chairmanship of the SP (Traffic) in strict accordance with government norms, ensuring complete transparency and fairness throughout the proceedings. This approach has bolstered public confidence in police administrative processes.

Benefits Beyond Revenue Generation

This systematic approach helps maintain orderly police station premises and ensures compliance with legal requirements for property disposal.
The successful auction represents a model for other police districts to follow, demonstrating how law enforcement agencies can effectively manage seized property while contributing to government revenues and improving operational efficiency.
