Ahead of the New Year celebrations, the Mohali police have initiated a robust security operation named 'Operation Night Domination'. This special night-long enforcement drive aims to strengthen law and order in urban areas, ensuring a safe environment for residents and visitors during the festive period.
Intensive Night Patrols and Checks
Under the leadership of DSP (City-1) Prithvi Singh Chahal, police teams conducted rigorous night patrolling across the city. The operation involved thorough checks of vehicles and verification of individuals found in suspicious circumstances. The primary objectives were to curb potential illegal activities, guarantee public safety, and foster a sense of security among shopkeepers and late-night market visitors.
Enforcement Actions and Results
The proactive drive yielded immediate results in terms of enforcement. As part of the action, the police impounded two cars and one motorcycle for various rule violations. Furthermore, authorities issued 12 traffic challans and took legal action against two individuals. These persons were booked under Section 128 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) for allegedly disturbing public peace.
Police Commitment and Public Appeal
SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans emphasized that such night domination exercises are conducted regularly. He stated that the aim is to proactively prevent crime, check traffic violations, and maintain a secure atmosphere in both commercial and residential zones, especially during night hours.
The SSP reiterated the police force's dedication to maintaining peace and order. He also appealed to the public, including residents and shopkeepers, to extend their full cooperation during police checks and patrols. Citizens were urged to adhere strictly to traffic and civic rules and to immediately inform the police about any suspicious activity in their vicinity.
SSP Hans confirmed that similar enforcement drives will continue in various parts of Mohali in the coming days. This sustained effort is designed to further solidify law and order throughout the New Year festivities and ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone.
