Khanna police have arrested the parents of Shaganpreet Singh, the former manager of slain Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, for their alleged involvement in an extortion and firing case at a dhaba in Khanna on May 1. The accused, identified as Saudagar Singh and Daljit Kaur, residents of Chadhri village in Fatehgarh Sahib, were apprehended from their native village on Thursday evening.
Details of the Arrest
DSP (Investigation) Mohit Singla confirmed that the duo was wanted in the firing case and had been evading arrest for some time. During the investigation, police discovered that the couple remained in contact with their son and coordinated with the accused involved in the shooting. They have been booked on charges of criminal conspiracy and for facilitating the offenders.
Previous Involvement in Firing Incidents
Investigators revealed that the names of Saudagar Singh and Daljit Kaur had previously surfaced in firing incidents reported in the Payal and Doraha areas. In both cases, they had secured bail. The police have not ruled out further arrests as the investigation expands.
The May 1 Dhaba Firing Incident
On May 1, two assailants on a motorcycle opened fire at Prem Dhaba in Khanna following an extortion demand by a gangster. So far, police have arrested five accused in connection with the incident. The arrested individuals include the shooters, Sahibjot Singh (19) of Malerkotla and Munish Sharma (30) of Ludhiana, as well as Vivek Singh (28), his brother Amandeep Singh (25), Mohammad Akhtar (25), and Parminder Singh. Authorities seized a .30-bore pistol, a magazine, two live cartridges, and a Pulsar motorcycle from the suspects.
Police continue to investigate the case and have not ruled out the possibility of more arrests as they delve deeper into the conspiracy behind the extortion and firing.
