Jamshedpur Mother Arrested for Allegedly Murdering Infant Daughter

A shocking case of filicide has emerged from Jamshedpur, where a 27-year-old woman has been arrested for the alleged murder of her own infant daughter. The accused, identified as Laxmi Kumari, was taken into custody on Monday following a formal complaint lodged by her husband, Sonaram Lohar.

Gruesome Details of the Crime

The tragic incident unfolded in Jagjivan Colony, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Chandil police station in Seraikela-Kharsawan district. According to police reports, Laxmi Kumari is accused of strangling her four-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Ridhi Kumari, on March 22. After committing the act, she allegedly buried the child's body behind their family residence in a desperate attempt to conceal the crime.

Investigation and Arrest

The investigation began when Sonaram Lohar reported his daughter missing to the authorities. Expressing deep suspicion about his wife's potential involvement in the disappearance, he urged police to question Laxmi Kumari thoroughly. Initially, Laxmi attempted to mislead investigators by falsely claiming that her daughter had been abducted by unknown persons.

As police launched search operations for the missing child, Laxmi reportedly exhumed Ridhi's body from the burial site and placed it in the courtyard of their home. When authorities arrived at the scene after receiving an alert, Laxmi had already fled the premises. However, workers from a nearby brick kiln apprehended the fleeing woman and promptly handed her over to the police, leading to her formal arrest.

Police Statements and Behavioral Assessment

Chandil police station in-charge Dilson Birua provided crucial insights into the case during a press briefing. "She is not mentally unstable but displays aggressive behavior patterns," Birua stated regarding the accused. The officer further revealed that according to the husband's testimony, Laxmi had exhibited brutal tendencies toward her daughter since the child's birth.

As of Tuesday evening, police authorities confirmed that the precise motive behind the horrific murder remains unclear. Investigators continue to examine all possible angles while the accused remains in custody facing serious charges. The case has sent shockwaves through the local community, raising questions about domestic violence and child protection mechanisms in the region.
