According to Khargone Superintendent of Police Ravindra Verma, the woman, identified as Nani Bai, committed this unthinkable act in a field situated between Malgaon and Bhomwada villages. The police investigation reveals that Nani Bai first threw her two-year-old son Arjun and four-year-old son Karan into the well. She then jumped into the same well while holding her fifteen-day-old infant.
Although Nani Bai reportedly knew how to swim, she panicked after entering the well. In a twist of fate, she managed to climb out using a rope and ladder that were present inside the well structure. After emerging from the well, she raised an alarm that alerted nearby villagers to the unfolding tragedy.

"According to our initial investigation, she had delivered a baby around fifteen days ago and was suffering from post-partum depression, which made it extremely difficult for her to cope with the responsibility of caring for three young children," explained SP Verma.
