Mother of Murdered Punjabi Influencer Nancy Grewal Names Three Suspects in Canada Killing
In a heartbreaking revelation from Jalandhar, the mother of Punjabi social media influencer Nancy Grewal, who was brutally murdered in LaSalle, Ontario, Canada, has publicly alleged that three individuals could be responsible for her daughter's death. Shinderpal Kaur, speaking from her Deol Nagar residence, identified the suspects and detailed a pattern of threats that preceded the tragic incident.
Pattern of Threats and Previous Attack
Shinderpal Kaur disclosed that her 45-year-old daughter regularly received menacing threats, which she reported to local police in Canada. The situation escalated a few months prior when Nancy's house was set on fire, an event that now appears ominously connected to her eventual murder. According to her mother, Nancy was a vocal commentator on various issues, often using strong language to address topics ranging from Khalistani activists to political figures and religious leaders.
Recent Controversies and Activism
In the weeks leading to her death, Nancy Grewal posted videos criticizing Radha Soami Satsang Beas chief Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon after his visit to Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia in Nabha jail. She also spoke out against the Akal Takht jathedar, maintaining her characteristic forthright style. Her mother emphasized that Nancy was driven by a desire to speak truth and assist those seeking justice, particularly highlighting her recent involvement in a case concerning gold belonging to a deceased man from Phagwara.
"She was threatened to stop raising the issue, but she remained firm on helping that man's family," Shinderpal stated, adding that Nancy also advocated for CCTV cameras in a local gurdwara in Windsor, Ontario, which faced opposition from some community members.
Alleged Conspirators and CCTV Evidence
Shinderpal Kaur specifically pointed to an elderly man involved with a Windsor gurdwara as the main conspirator. She recounted a chilling incident where one of the three suspects visited Nancy's home with his face covered, apparently conducting reconnaissance. "She had CCTV cameras in and outside her house. Once Nancy spotted him, he was badly frightened. If there were no CCTV cameras, she could have been killed on that day also," the grieving mother alleged.
Nancy Grewal's Life in Canada
Nancy moved to Canada after marrying a singer, aspiring to a singing career herself. When that did not materialize, she turned to anchoring stage shows. The marriage eventually dissolved, leaving her to support herself through caregiving work, managing two shifts daily with different companies. Despite these challenges, she remained closely connected with her mother, sharing details of her work, the threats she faced, and police complaints.
The Fatal Attack and Police Response
On the evening of March 3, 2026, emergency services responded to a stabbing report on Todd Lane in LaSalle. Nancy was found with severe injuries and later succumbed at the hospital. Shinderpal described the attack as vicious, noting her daughter was stabbed repeatedly. A woman at the location witnessed the assault and alerted police.
LaSalle Police initially withheld the victim's identity pending family notification but confirmed it the following day, stating they view the incident as isolated while appealing for public tips and surveillance footage.
Shinderpal Kaur's allegations add a disturbing dimension to this case, suggesting premeditation and ongoing harassment that may have culminated in murder. As investigations continue, the call for justice grows louder from both sides of the globe.
