A shocking incident of double murder has shaken the Govindpuri area of Delhi, where a woman and her teenage son were found stabbed to death inside their residence. The police have initiated a thorough probe, with robbery being the primary motive under suspicion.
Details of the Incident
The bodies of the victims, identified as 45-year-old Sunita Devi and her 17-year-old son Rohan, were discovered on Wednesday morning by neighbors who noticed the door ajar. Upon entering, they found the duo lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds. The police were immediately alerted and rushed to the scene.
According to preliminary investigations, the incident is believed to have occurred late Tuesday night. The assailants reportedly gained entry by breaking the lock of the main door. Valuable items, including jewelry and cash, were found missing from the house, strengthening the robbery angle.
Police Investigation Underway
Senior police officials, including the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East Delhi), visited the crime spot and assured swift action. A team of forensic experts was called in to collect evidence, including fingerprints and blood samples. CCTV footage from the neighborhood is being scanned to identify any suspicious activity.
“We are investigating all possible leads. Robbery appears to be the motive, but we are not ruling out any other angles. The post-mortem examination will reveal the exact time of death and nature of injuries,” said a police spokesperson.
Family in Shock
The victims’ family members, who live in a nearby locality, are in deep shock. Sunita Devi was a widow and worked as a domestic help to support her two children. Rohan was a class 12 student. The family had recently shifted to Govindpuri. “They were simple and hardworking people. We cannot believe this happened to them,” said a relative.
The second son, who was away at a friend’s house, is being counseled by a team of psychologists.
